Jeweler to the Stars Michael Beaudry Lists Mediterranean-Style Home | Celebrity Real Estate for the Bedford NY real estate market
What do Warren Buffett, Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Barbra Streisand have in common?
For one, each of them has worked with Beverly Hills diamond cutter and jewelry designer Michael Beaudry.
“We have enjoyed a long list of celebrities and distinguished entrepreneurs that we have designed pieces for,” says Beaudry.
While the name Beaudry is primarily associated with one-of-a-kind diamond pieces, he’s also making a name for himself in home design with the launch of his home collection. The collection is featured at the Beaudry Flagship Salon at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.
“I’m a frustrated architect,” Beaudry explained. “If I wasn’t a diamond cutter, I would have been an architect.”
Nowhere is this more apparent than Beaudry’s home overlooking Los Angeles, just listed on the Beverly Hills real estate market for $10,995,000.
It’s the third house that Beaudry and his wife Laura, also a jewelry designer, (who recently worked with Halle Berry), have lived in and renovated before selling.
“When we transform a property our goal is to show people how to live in it, by handcrafting or acquiring the right furniture and fixtures and spending a lot of time getting to know the bones of each home.” said Beaudry. “Our idea here was to bring in an authentic European sensibility and validate the architecture of the home so that it feels like an original early era Los Angeles estate.”
The two of them plastered the walls, added historic elements — like the 17th-century mantle in the great room and reclaimed stone from Greece in the motor court — as well as designed textiles, tile, and the landscape, turning the 2001 home into a Old World Mediterranean villa.
Listing agent Gary Gold of Hilton & Hyland describes the home as a piece of jewelry.
“The home…is beyond belief, from the lighting to the custom wall treatments. [It] has the same sensibility as his jewelry does,” said Gold.”He sells it like he sells his jewelry.”
The home is situated on a premium bluff location — something that Gold says is rare in Beverly Hills real estate, especially for a newer construction.
“Most of it [Beverly Hills] was built up in the ’20s,” Gold said. “If you want a new home you are mostly likely tearing an old home down.”
The bluff location gives the house unobstructed views of the city skyline and Pacific Ocean beyond.
Beyond prime views on a very private lot, the 6-bedroom home, 9-bath home features a media room, gym, 1,500-bottle wine cellar and tasting room, library and master bedroom with his-and-her bathrooms, a study and multiple terraces. The home also has a pool with entertaining area and comes complete with an outdoor theater, fireplace, commercial bar, grill and putting green.
After renovating this house, Beaudry says he and Laura already have ideas for another home project.
“We currently have our eye on other properties, but this one will always be special,” he said.

Green Homes & Great Estates House Tour – Bedford-Katonah, NY Patch
Founded in 1999, the Wolf Conservation Center is one of the preeminent wolf education and conservation centers in the United States. Located just off Route 35 in the woody hills of South Salem, the WCC is easily accessible, which is great considering the amount of daytime and evening events that it holds; pre-registration is required, so plan ahead. Or, for groups too large to bring to the site, arrange a meeting with one of the conservatory’s ambassador wolves.

Here is our weekly rundown of unusual police activity in the area over the past week.
Perp Pilfers Spare Key from Unlocked Land Rover, Steals Lincoln
A Dobbs Ferry resident reported that his 2000 Land Rover was entered overnight on June 16, and that the perpetrator stole the spare key to his Lincoln MKS—making off with the car, police said. The 2009 Lincoln—valued at $45,000—had been parked on Ridge Road, very close to the Land Rover, police said.
“This doesn’t happen that often—it’s pretty unique,” said Dobbs Ferry’s Lt. James Guarnieri. “If the keys to one car are inside the other, it doesn’t take much to piece it together if you’re a car thief.”
The moral of this story: Don’t leave keys in an unlocked car.
‘Career Criminal’ Nabbed in Harrison
Harrison Police have arrested a man they believe has been invading homes in Westchester County and Connecticut for more than 30 years.
Thomas Haywood, 48, of 45 Traverse Avenue, Port Chester, was arrested June 21 after Harrison police identified him as the man wanted for allegedly invading a home in Greenwich. Harrison Police had been monitoring him as a suspect in local burglaries when they were contacted by Greenwich police, said Harrison Police Chief Anthony Marraccini. Harrison police viewed surveillance tapes in Greenwich and identified Haywood as the same man they were investigating.
“Because we knew his travel patterns and where he was residing, in different places, we sent the surveillance teams out to locate him and we found him,” Marraccini said.
Police called Haywood a “career criminal” who has been committing crimes in Westchester County and Connecticut for more than 30 years. “He’s been in the area committing crimes since 1981,” said Marraccini.
Minivan Mayhem in Port Chester
A Port Chester man is accused of striking three cars during a wild cross-town drive on Thursday night, according to Port Chester police.
Officers got their first call at 6:35 p.m. from a woman on Highland Street, who told them a man driving a red minivan struck her parked car and kept going, Lt. James Ladeairous said. The victim wrote down the license plate and provided it to police, who traced it to a Maple Place address. While the officer was taking the report on Highland Street, another woman approached and said her car was just struck on Parker Street — same red minivan, same license plate. A few minutes later, while the patrolman was taking the second report, a third person walked into police headquarters on North Main Street and said his car was also struck by a red minivan, this time on King Street. The description and plates matched.
Later Thursday evening, a patrol officer spotted the minivan parked in a driveway on Maple Place. Officers located the driver, a 30-year-old man from Poningo Street. He was charged with three counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident. The van was registered to another Port Chester man, who told police he allowed the suspect to drive his vehicle.
Man Fools Family, Fiancé and Community Into Thinking He’s a Military Vet
A Greenwich man apparently led a double life, duping his family, fiancé and members of the Greenwich community into thinking he was a wounded U.S Army veteran having served four tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.
It turns out the man, identified by Greenwich Police, is Jesus M. Garcia, a 20-year-old who despite his military-like tattoos and uniform, didn’t serve a day in the Armed Forces. Garcia is accused of concocting stories of being a U.S. Army Ranger to gain the sympathy of people who gave him money, bought dinner and gave him a job. Police estimate Garcia received about $1,000 from sympathetic, civic-minded residents and veterans.
The story began to unravel just before Memorial Day, police said.
Gray said that he spoke with Garcia and set up an appointment thinking that as a veteran himself, he might be able to help. “I thought, four tours of duty, and PTSD (post traumatic stress syndrome), is he off because of mental health issues related to his service. He broke the appointment saying his was having surgery to have shrapnel removed,” Gray said.
On May 27, Garcia met with Police Capt. James Heavey, who also is a U.S. Army veteran, in anticipation of Garcia speaking at a Memorial Day ceremony. During conversations with Heavey said it became apparent that Garcia was a fraud and provided an investigating officer with a false name and date of birth. “There were inconsistencies in his portrayal of his military record and his uniform was not to standards,” Heavey said. He also could not provide a military ID card despite being dressed in uniform, police said.
According to Gray, “When he lied, he had no military ID, gave the wrong date of birth and refused to give other information … it (his story) all fell apart.”
Woman Admits Falsely Accusing Volunteer Firefighters Of Theft
A Rockland County woman who accused volunteer firefighters of looting her home during a 2010 fire pleaded guilty Wednesday to lying about the theft.
Kam Yung, 49, of 56 Constitution Drive, Tappan, has been sentenced to community service, ordered to pay a fine, a court surcharge and write a letter of apology to the volunteers of the Tappan, Sparkill and Orangeburg fire departments.
The guilty plea stems from an April 23, 2010, incident when Orangetown police and Tappan, Sparkill and Orangeburg volunteer firefighters responded to a fire call at 56 Constitution Drive. The blaze was put out and no one was injured, however, at about 8 p.m. that night Yung reported to Orangetown police that $7,000 cash and jewelry had been stolen from her bedroom by the volunteer firefighters.
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said an investigation by Orangetown detectives revealed that Yung lied to the police and there was never $7,000 cash in her bedroom and jewelry was not missing.
Black Bear Found in Tree Relocated to the Wild
A bear wandered into a residential neighborhood in Nanuet Monday morning and had to be removed by state wildlife experts.
Clarkstown police said the bear was spotted on James Drive near Jean Marie Gardens at about 7 a.m. The bear ended up in a tree on a residential property. Police safeguarded the area until a wildlife expert from the state Department of Environmental Conservation arrived. Police said the bear was tranquilized and safely removed by about 8:30 a.m. No one was injured.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation said that the bear was examined and determined to be a 223-pound male black bear that is about 4 years old. The bear had tags showing previous contacts with wildlife officials, however, the bear was not considered a nuisance.
The bear was relocated to an undisclosed state-owned site and released into the wild.
Beware Internet Dating Con
An Irvington resident reported being the victim of a long-time con on an Internet dating site. The victim spent a total of $12,000 via Western Union in a number of transactions, making this grand larceny in the third degree. This victim said deception started slowly and the money was spent over the course of a month.
Police are investigating the fraud as theft by deception and want residents to be aware that a number of online scams involve sending payments via Western Union. The scammer will request money immediately and use pressure tactics that appeal to the victim’s emotions and good intentions, police say. Some red flags are Western Union money transfers and fraudulent emails based out of African nations.
Hatfields and McCoys, Mamaroneck Style
An existing rivalry between two neighbors on Staub Court in the Village of Mamaroneck was further stirred up Thursday night when one neighbor snapped at the other and said, “get a damn hobby,” as he sat on his front porch. The incident was documented only.
Bedford NY Real Estate reads “Fox Lane’s Christiana Dominates on the Links – Bedford-Katonah, NY Patch” | Bedford NY Homes for sale
Fox Lane enjoyed plenty of success on the golf course this season as it went 19-0.
Leading the way was senior all-state performer Max Christiana, who came in seventh at the state tournament held at Cornell University in Ithaca.
“It was a great accomplishment considering it was my first time there,” Christiana said. “I didn’t really know what to expect. I was pretty happy with the results.”
Results like that enabled Christiana to take his game to the next level. He will be doing that next year when he plays golf at Boston College.
He said there were a few important factors why he chose to play for the Eagles.
“I didn’t want to fly to college or go too far and I wanted to play in the ACC, which is one of the best if not the best conference in America,” Christiana said. “Boston College also got a new coach (Bill Poutre) from Long Beach State and he is probably the nicest guy I have ever met. I am going to work well with him.”
Poutre, an assistant coach who just completed his first year at Boston College, plays a major role on the staff as he is in charge of recruiting and player development. Prior to coaching at Boston College, he was the head coach for LBS in 2010 and ’09, and before that was the head coach at Hartford for three seasons.
Christiana, who will be enrolled in Boston College’s business school, said that it was just the right combination of athletics, academics and location that attracted him to the school.
“It’s just the perfect fit for me,” Christiana said.
On the course, Christiana’s goal is to be on an Eagles squad that competes for the ACC championship, something he admits will be quite a challenge because of the strong competition in the conference.
“My main goal is to win the ACC championship, but we have a big hill to climb,” Christiana said. “We play schools like Georgia Tech and Florida State, which play year-round.”
One of Christiana’s biggest influences when it came to golf was his cousin Chris Zeller. Zeller played on the Florida squad that won the national championship in 2001.
“That and my entire family has played golf and I didn’t want to be left out,” Christiana said.
Christiana said he was 5 or 6 when Zeller was on the championship Gator squad, but he admits he didn’t realize how great of an accomplishment it was until he was 12.
“It wasn’t a big influence until I understood how hard that is to accomplish,” Christiana said. “When I was younger, it was like, national championship, whatever. Once I started focusing on sports, I was like, wow, he (Zeller) is really good. Then I was like I hope to be that good one day. So that was my goal, to be able to play in college.”
While Christiana is looking forward to playing in college, he says he will miss playing with his teammates at Fox Lane and coach Daniel Mulvey.
“He was never too hard on us,” Christiana said. “He would make jokes if we played bad, but he would never get mad at us or put too much pressure on us which was nice and really good for the team.”

Chappaqua Real Estate asks “Who Should Buy Hulu?” | Search Engine Journal for Chappaqua NY Real Estate
Who Should Buy Hulu?
Yahoo! may have gotten the ball rolling on the Hulu sales deal by coming at them with an offer, but Hulu leveraged the position by pushing for a number of additional potential buyers. While little is known about the bidding war – beyond the fact that it’s the real deal, with Hulu officially working with investment banks to make the process possible – company names such as Google, Microsoft, Netflix, Amazon, and Apple are being thrown about.
But who gets the most out of the transaction? There are various opinions. Nick Eaton of Seattle PI says that Microsoft has the most to gain. “Controlling Hulu would give Microsoft a high-profile platform for video advertising,” says Eaton. The buy would also give Microsoft a possible competitor for YouTube, an additional resources on the gaming platform front, and a nice little revenue stream to boot. But Microsoft would also be entering tricky territory by trying to provide for competing groups, such as Sony’s PlayStation 3, andnegotiating with the various TV networks.
Yahoo! has a lot to gain on the Hulu front, especially considering the low company revenue and diving company stock values. Since Yahoo! turned down Microsoft’s offer to buy the company for roughly $33 per share, the stock value has dipped as low as about $11 per share. The current value is $14.89. A profitable and recognized stream could be just what Yahoo! needs, and the increasing focus on the entertainment front matches with Yahoo!’s overall game-plan.
Google could buy Hulu, supplementing their user-generated video content with the TV-centric content on Hulu. It woud certainly secure the media front, but with Google already in a strong position, the main purpose would be preventing another company from buying the content. The only big advantage would be that Android systems would have greater access to Hulu data.
There’s not a clear “best choice” candidate, but each group has something to gain. Whoever acquires Hulu will have a valuable asset on their hand, but considering the project $2 billion buyout price, our potential buyers are limited to the giant technology groups.
