Mt Kisco Realtor | 4 Link Building Strategies for “Too Busy for Link Building” Local Businesses
Great tips Brent. I’m going to share this on my Google Places and Local SEO news channel at Scoop.it.
While I understand that in some hyper competitive local searches link building is essential, for most local businesses it is not.
I have SEO companies that come to me for my Advanced Google Places and Local SEO training all the time that say “I’ve backlinked the hell out of this site and can’t get it to rank.”
In LOCAL it’s more about some very specific on-site factors that make all the difference. I get local companies in the 1, 2, 3 spot all the time that don’t have ANY links and I’ve never built a backlink. Just took a Dentist from #16 to #2 in one day by tweaking his site. (No links, no Places optimization).
Oh and I’m talking the new ‘blended’ algo that’s 90% based on organic SEO, not the old 7 pack Places algo that is totally different. That one is not controlled by backlinks or on-site at all.
But again it’s all relative and based on the competition. So I’m not negating the need for links, it’s just that in local it’s not the be-all, end-all some people make it out to be. So much easier to optimize a site than to build backlinks. But if you need to build links, these are some great tips!

Bedford Hills Realtor | Amba Farms Bounty Served Up at LeRoy Neiman Birthday Bash – Bedford-Katonah, NY Patch
Oklahoma City chef John Bennett wrote about the experience of planning a birthday party for famed artist, LeRoy Neiman, best known for his paintings of sports events and leisure activities, in the Sept. 11 issue of The Oklahoman/NewsOK.
Featured on the menu? Produce from Bedford Hills’ own Amba Farms, operated by Liz Taggart.
Bennett, who first met Neiman on a wine-buying trip in Bordeaux in the 1960s, enlisted the help of friends and fellow Oklahoma City natives Quint Smith, who is executive chef of the Stamford, CT, Yacht Club, and his wife Jackie Smith.
According to the story, the Smiths visited Amba Farms the morning of the event, held in June, and brought it to The Studio, Neiman’s home and work space on Manhattan’s West side.
They selected “fresh unusual radishes, baby carrots in three colors, micro flowering herbs, arugula, fresh-picked asparagus and strawberries,” according to Bennett.
The menu, which featured smoked cod dressed with Taggart’s vegetables, included “rare vintage Amuse Bouche reds, three other reds and two white wines as well as flower bottles of Perrier Jouet Champagne.”

To read more about Amba Farms, read our story on the farm chef tour held there last fall, and about Taggart’s involvement in the garden planted at Rippowam Cisqua School last spring.
Editor’s note: Neiman’s name was originally spelled incorrectly. We’ve fixed the copy.
