Sally Field’s home is a classic celebrity refuge, a completely private property set back from the road on a long winding driveway. The A-Lister and a current star on television drama “Brothers & Sisters” has listed her home on the Malibu real estate market for $5,900,000.

Field previously listed the home for $6,950,000 in 2009, but even the luxury housing market has taken a hit — median Malibu home values are presently $1,521,000, which may sound high, however the Malibu market has experienced a decline of 17.8 percent in home values year-over-year.

Best known for her role as Tom Hanks’ mother in Forrest Gump, Field purchased the 1950s-era home in 2004 and “tastefully renovated” it. Turns out Field is not only good at acting — she also has two Academy Awards under her belt — but she also has good taste in interior design. Her 3.06-acre property is outfitted in an understated and elegant style.

According to the listing, the 5-bedroom, 6-bath home includes one of the “largest and well-appointed master suites” that not only has a large master bath and closet but a private library and office, sitting room and deck as well.

The home boasts an open-floor plan, conducive to entertaining with over-sized rooms, enormous formal dining room and gourmet kitchen. Three fireplaces, a game room, and covered patios complete the house. The grounds feature a heated pool, lighted tennis courts, play area (with swing set), three-stall barn and paddock as well as private, wooded walking trails.
