Varsity and JV spring sports began in the high schools this week, and modified sports are not far behind. Youth sports leagues are also registering players, including the Bedford Youth Soccer Club, Lewisoboro Soccer Club, Lewisboro Baseball, Bedford Hills/Katonah Little League, Bedford Pound Ridge Baseball and Katonah Bedford Girls Softball. Good luck to all players in tryouts, evaluations and first games of the season.
2. Bedford Board of Education meeting
Budget talks continue at tonight’s school board meeting, scheduled to start at 8 p.m. in the Fox Lane Middle School theatre. For more information on the budget development process, read our story on Superintendent of Schools Jere Hochman’s budget proposal presentation.
3. Fox Lane Musical Final Rehearsals
Fox Lane’s musical show, “The Boyfriend,” opens this weekend. We’ll be at their dress rehearsal tonight, and plan to preview the show for you on Thursday.
4. Bedford Hills Lions Club Meets
The Lion’s Club meets the first and third Wednesday of each month. The organization supports many youth activities as well as scholarships for local students. If you’re interested in becoming a member, they recommend attending a meeting. Find out more on their website.
5. Story times / Special St. Patrick’s Story and Activity
At the Bedford Hills Free Library, storytime with “Miss Kathy” starts at 10:30 a.m. for 3s and 4s; at the Katonah Village Library story and a craft for toddlers begins at 10:30 a.m., plus, the Books and Cookies Club for K – 2 starts at 4:30 p.m. (Registration is required, call 232-1233). And at the Bedford Village Library, at 3:30 p.m. for ages 4 – 8, themed stories read by a “native” will be combined with “a special Irish activity.” Call 234-3570 for more information.
