Firefox 4 Downloaded 5 Million Times in the First 24 Hours

From what I understand, it’s downloading new stats on occasion, and then gradually transitioning the counter and ping markers to catch up. So basically, if you see 5 million downloads, but the real number is 6 million right now, you’ll see a gradual increase from 5 to 6 at the same pace as the downloads were occurring. That means that if you unplug from the internet, the counter will continue until it catches up to the last numbers it was able to download, and then it will stop. So it might be an approximation, but it would be an approximation on the low end, not the high end. The number you see would always be behind the real number, even when approximating.
