Rockland and Westchester counties on disaster list too | Armonk Homes

Another storm update: Rockland and Westchester counties have also gotten a major disaster declaration:

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that Westchester and Rockland counties have been added to the Major Disaster declaration. Both counties have been designated for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance Category A and B, as well as DFA Direct Federal Assistance.

“Once again I would like to thank our partners in the federal government, especially President Obama, for their quick response to my request for assistance on behalf of Westchester and Rockland counties,” said Governor Cuomo. “New York appreciates all the support we have received from Washington as we continue to recover from Hurricane Sandy.”

Other counties included in the Major Disaster declaration include: New York, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Bronx, Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Due to the Major Disaster declaration, the federal government can send aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts due to Hurricane Sandy beginning on October 27, 2012, and throughout the recovery. This action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in the affected counties. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
